Wisconsinites Pay the Price for a Broken Bill

The Federal Reconciliation Bill — which was signed into law in July 2025 — was branded as relief for everyday people. But, this harmful legislation is turning into anything but for Wisconsin — raising our energy bills, eliminating clean energy jobs, and padding the profits of oil and gas corporations.

Wisconsinites deserve good-paying jobs, affordable energy, and healthier communities. Instead, our legislators chose fossil fuel profits over families, farms, and small businesses — and they must answer for it.

Wisconsin will do what it always does: look forward. We won’t stop fighting for homegrown, clean energy that creates jobs, lowers costs, and secures Wisconsin’s energy future.

Wisconsin is Paying the Price by Losing Homegrown Energy

When our leaders sided with energy corporations over everyday Wisconsinites, the consequences were immediate and tangible — felt in our homes, classrooms, and paychecks.

Planned projects are now delayed indefinitely or canceled. Schools, churches, and homeowners across Wisconsin counted on clean energy credits to upgrade their buildings and save money.

Rising Energy Costs Impacting Residents Across Wisconsin

Families are bracing for rising costs. By 2030, household utility bills are projected to climb by $95, and by 2035, the increase could reach $300 — all while energy corporations pocket billions in benefits.

These rollbacks don’t just affect individual families; they strike at Wisconsin’s energy independence. By limiting local, homegrown energy projects, the state loses control over its energy future and remains tied to out-of-state fossil fuel corporations.

Clean Energy Savings Still Available to Wisconsin Residents

Even though the Federal Reconciliation Bill cut many incentives, Wisconsin has $150 million dollars in federal funding still available to help make our homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Since launching the programs, over $2 million in rebates have been paid to Wisconsin households to install popular energy-efficient measures, including air sealing, insulation, heat pumps for cooling and heating, and electric panels and wiring.

Take Action: Protect Your Family, Your Community, and Wisconsin’s Energy Future

Even as many incentives have been cut, there are still steps Wisconsinites can take to save money, support local jobs, and invest in clean energy:

Claim Available Incentives:

Check what credits and programs are still available for your home, farm, or business — from energy-efficient upgrades to EV tax credits — before they expire. Every dollar saved and every project completed helps Wisconsin families and local businesses.

Hold Leaders Accountable:

Elected officials chose Big Oil over Wisconsin families. Make your voice heard and demand leadership that prioritizes clean energy, lower costs, and stronger communities.
